Macmillan Cancer Support helps people get through cancer, providing information, emotional support and nursing care. Donations make it happen. So, with this in mind, the church family of St. James, were keen to do their bit.

Firstly, the meeting room had a makeover! Bathed in ambient candle-light and with fluffy, fleecy throws draped over chairs, it was transformed into a warm, comfortable and cosy place for guests to gather. Treatment stations for hands and feet were set up at one end and opposite there was ample space for friends to sit and chat.

A table adorned with savoury delights and sweet treats was within easy reach for all visitors. The most difficult decision to be made, was what to choose first! Home-bakers had been busy crafting creamy, rich and indulgent concoctions with care, to be shared with love. For those with a less sweet preference, there was abundant choice: colourful canapés, flaky pastries and crispy, crunchy morsels. Something for everyone.

The church office was also transformed into a private treatment room for mini facials, courtesy of Ceri, a Tropic Ambassador, who provided both specialist and professional care. This was a very popular choice with a lengthy waiting list! Relaxed, glowing and polished faces emerged from this space; the wait had clearly been worthwhile!

Throughout the afternoon, the catering team ensured there was a steady supply of hot and cold beverages to suit all tastes. Endless refills in glasses and cups were welcomed by all who were content to engage in gentle conversations with friends old and new.

It was a lovely occasion, where people were happy to come together, share food and be spoiled with some treatments, all in the name of charity fundraising. Everyone went home, feeling good and secure in the knowledge that they too, had done some good by raising more than £368.
