Anything is paws-ible when you put your mind to it! That includes holding the much-loved and eagerly-anticipated annual Pet Service INSIDE church!
Pressure on the church calendar meant that this unique service had to be scheduled a month later than usual, which brought its own challenges with unpredictable weather systems. Hence, rather than risk a soaking outside, both the two-legged and four-legged faithfuls took their places in the pews. We offer a round of a-paws for such a graceful entrance!
The service, led by Pam, Sara and Elaine, took inspiration from the story of St. Francis of Assisi, well-known for his compassion and love for all animals.
When it came to singing some well-loved hymns, one or two furry friends wanted to raise the woof, by unleashing their bark side and showing their faithful companions, how it should be done!
Our paw-fect visitors demonstrated head tilts to melt hearts during the Gospel reading, showcased their attentiveness during the story in exchange for plenty of strokes (and the odd edible treat) and were paws-itively having a ball in church. They were intrigued by the on-screen video and lapped up the blessing. However, some may have looked a little less than impressed when their companions shared a few not so glorious stories about their antics. Had their faithfuls become traitors?
Ruff day? Far from it! All went home with much to paws and reflect on!
Thank you all for coming and sharing this special service, we woof you!
Lord God, we ask you to bless this pet. By the power of your love, enable this beloved creature to live according to your plan.
Amen
