I am writing with the disappointing news that we have not received applicants for the Vicar of the Over Wyre benefice which closed this week. I appreciate this is not welcome news. After we did not appoint in the Spring, it is now over a year of vacancy. I am grateful to all those who have been shouldering additional burdens across each of your parishes. Your parish profile is vibrant and attractive. We approached a number of people to prompt them to apply, so I am also disappointed that this round didn’t yield applicants.
We will follow up with Rev Naomi this week at the Diocesan Conference this week, consult Area Dean Gregor Stewart, and consider next steps at our Appointment Team meeting later this month. Then we will look for an opportunity to meet with your Parish Reps. If you have wisdom, comments or questions to feed in, please don’t hesitate to contact your Parish Reps.
I was so encouraged by the energy and life in your recent confirmation service. Please join me in praying for the calling of the right person as Vicar in to continue overseeing the beautiful ministry of your benefice.
