Spirit-led?

Spirit-filled?

Full of Spirit?

That’s the Spirit!

During the Joint Benefice Holy Communion service, hosted by St. Oswald’s Preesall and led by Rev. Naomi, there were multiple references to the amazing power of the Holy Spirit.

On the fifth Sunday of Lent, the service brought together all the parishes in the Over Wyre Benefice and a joint choir was formed.

Rev. Naomi could hardly contain her excitement when speaking about the spectacular readings: a valley of dry bones, from which an enfleshed multitude arises (Ezekiel 37:1-14) and the raising of Lazarus from the dead by Jesus Christ (John 1:1-45). Both narratives were Spirit-filled. The congregation were encouraged to avoid getting ‘stuck’, like Martha on ‘If only…’ and instead take up the invitation to praise God ‘Even if…’  The same Spirit which was working through Jesus, fills us today, both in our personal lives and as a church.

A wonderful Lent Lunch followed in the Parish Hall supporting Trinity Hospice. A simple meal of bread, soup and cake was much enjoyed by all, alongside good conversation and lovely company. It was a happy occasion, celebrating fellowship across the Benefice.

As people drifted off into the unusually warm March sunshine, they were certainly in good spirits, grateful for having spent time being enriched by the transformative power of the Holy Spirit.
