Themes of equality and justice, underpinned by Christian Aid, have run through the Raise and Praise services this term. They have looked at the needs of other people and have been thinking about what we can do to make the world a fairer place. The most recent service, was no exception.

Taking inspiration from John 14: 2-3 ‘My Father’s house has many rooms…I am going there to prepare a place for you’, Rev Naomi opened a discussion on ‘homes’:

Who built the home you live in?   How many rooms are in your house?  God is preparing a home for His children in Heaven. Imagine how amazing that house is going to be! John 14:2 is a great Bible verse to help you think of how wonderful Heaven will be one day.

This discussion was followed by an interactive game – ‘What’s in the House?’ which helped the congregation to think about what we have in comparison to what other people have, before coming to the conclusion that home means where you are safe, where you are protected and where you are loved.

The next part of the service required builders! The brief was to engineer a house from Lego bricks, craft a money box house, sculpt a house from the ‘junk modelling pile’ or construct a shelter. Some stunning superstructures emerged!

Following the building, the prayer tent was used to pray for God’s help in keeping people safe, protected and secure in a place where they are loved.

The final message was one of reassurance – do not worry, there is room in God’s house for EVERYONE!

On that cheerful note, there is also room for everyone who is interested in these informal, relaxed church services:
