Stars at the Stars!
The contrast could not have been sharper! Outside, the weather was cold, drizzly and grey…inside, it was warm, welcoming and bright. As thirty members of St. James’ church-family gathered for lunch at the local village pub – the Seven Stars, they brought their own sunshine with them.
Animated chatter, bursts of laughter and smiley faces filled the room, as the parishioners waited patiently for their much-anticipated lunchtime treat. It was only when service commenced, that there was a momentary lull, as people savoured their first mouthfuls.
Glasses were raised, compliments flowed about menu choices and chatter resumed. Friends relaxed, enjoying the company of those around them and soaking up the ambient atmosphere.
Coffees and desserts followed for those who still had a ‘bit of room’ and conversations continued covering countless topics stretching from home to abroad.
All too soon, it was time to say goodbye and step into greyness once more, leaving the home-made sunshine behind…for now.
Thank you to the Seven Stars, Stalmine for hosting lunch.
Thank you to all the parishioners who joined in the fun.
Thank you to the Communication and Social Committee, for making the opportunity happen.
