Rev. Dyllis led the ‘Sing to the Lord’ evening, where a faithful community of all ages gathered in church for a ‘Songs of Praise’ type of event.

Plans to start the event outside in the warm summer sunshine, sipping prosecco, had to be changed due to the ongoing (and seemingly never-ending) drizzly skies, which later turned into a sustained, heavy downpour! That said, the sunshine was to be found inside the church as the congregation heartily sang their way through a substantial list of modern worship songs and traditional hymns.

Paul, Sara and Elaine provided the musical accompaniment (organ, piano and pre-recorded music) after Rev. Dyllis had delivered a brief introduction, offering either a personal context, or historical information relating to the choice of hymn.

Parishioners had voted for their favourite hymn / worship song at previous services, so the selection was tailor-made for those present.  The music chosen was:

All I am and all I have is yours.
Knowing You, Jesus.
The Lord’s my Shepherd (I will trust).
Above all Powers.
Ten thousand Reasons.
At the name of Jesus.
Lord of all Hopefulness.
All Things Bright and Beautiful.
Eternal Father, Strong to Save.
I heard the Voice of Jesus Say.
O For a Thousand Songs to Sing.
Dear Lord and Father of mankind.
I will sing the Wondrous Story.
How Great Thou Art.

The evening was very much rooted in praise; it was joy-filled and a deeply personal, intimate occasion. Perfect!
